Applications in Pharmacology and toxicology

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) controls the molecules and cells exchanges between the blood and the brain. The in vitro models of the BBB can be useful tools to predict cerebral distribution of compounds. Allowing to decrease the use of animals in drug discovery, these models could significantly help pharmaceutical companies to screen New Chemical Entities or macromolécules for their ability to cross the BBB and to generate neurotoxicity. Within this axis, we also investigate the effects of acute or chronic exposures of NCE on BBB integrity and physiology. With these informations, we also develop some vectorization method to improve the CNS drug delivery.
